“Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd, responding to findings published in the Durham Report, believes the time may have come for a Church Committee to help restore confidence in the FBI.
Special counsel John Durham’s report found that the FBI did not have enough “factual evidence” to investigate allegations of Trump-Russia collusion and revealed that they “failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law.”
Even without evidence, they launched an investigation against a candidate for President that would dog him for years to come and undermine his administration.
While insisting the Durham Report wasn’t quite the bombshell conservatives had hoped, Todd still acknowledged major trust issues befalling the FBI. And the findings lying within certainly didn’t help.
“Special counsel John Durham’s actual sharpest conclusions after a four-year investigation were that the FBI suffered from confirmation bias and, quote, ‘discounted or willfully ignored material information’ that countered the narrative of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia,” Todd explained to his viewers.
NBC host Chuck Todd makes a surprising pivot and calls out the FBI for losing the trust of the American people while reacting to the Durham report.
“It feels like we’re in the moment that we need a real Church Committee… like when the J. Edgar Hoover FBI clearly was no longer… pic.twitter.com/BcQTkusBmx

Chuck Todd Calls For a Church Committee to Investigate FBI
While it comes as no surprise that Chuck Todd is actively trying to dismiss what amounts to an active coup within the FBI, what he says next may leave you a bit shocked.
Todd said it may be time for a full-scale probe into the bureau.
“This is not an FBI that should feel good about what Durham discovered because, at a minimum, this issue of confirmation bias goes to the heart of how James Comey seemed to worry so much about what the perception of the FBI was that he – whether it was overdid or underdid Hillary stuff, and then overdid or underdid Trump stuff,” he explained.
Interesting that Todd is just now noticing. Where was his investigation of the Russia collusion story?

“Look, trust in the FBI is eroding left and right,” Todd continued. “Feels like we’re in a moment that we need a real Church Committee, that this is a moment like when the J. Edgar Hoover FBI clearly was no longer helping the American people, there was a moment.”
“This feels like we might be in one of those moments.”
Absolutely astonishing to hear this hack actually reporting something truthful

Tucker Carlson Has Called For a Church Committee
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, as Speaker Kevin McCarthy was struggling to secure his role with the incoming GOP-controlled House, suggested two concessions he might want to consider to secure votes in favor of his leadership.
Carlson advised McCarthy to release ALL of the January 6th files and appoint Representative Thomas Massie to head a “Frank Church committee” to study the FBI.
Imagine that. Tucker Carlson and Chuck Todd are on the same wavelength.
If Kevin McCarthy wants to be Speaker, he’s going to have to give his colleagues something real — actual concessions. He can start with these two things. pic.twitter.com/tzTajZjgaU

The original Church committee was formed in 1975 to study abuses in various intelligence departments, including the FBI, CIA, and IRS.
Senator Frank Church, in a discussion of the committee on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that same year, warned of the capacity of the intelligence community to harness certain technological advancements to monitor messages and use technology against the American people.
As they did most recently with Twitter and the Hunter Biden and COVID ‘misinformation‘ efforts, nevermind the Snowden revelations.
On August 17, 1975 Senator Frank Church appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press and issued a stark warning about a certain technology perfected by the intelligence community, which could be used by the US government against its own citizens to create “total tyranny” pic.twitter.com/ndfZ3QS3JT

“The technological capacity that the intelligence community has given the government could enable it to impose total tyranny, and there would be no way to fight back,” Church said nearly 50 years ago.
“It seems like we have to do something to restore trust,” Todd declared.
We might be well beyond that stage.
