This is turning out to be a week of surprises from the lovin’ Left. I cannot think what’s gotten into them.
First it’s Mayor Eric “The Glitz” Adams, flat-out telling the world that the influx of mostly non-English speaking brown people was going to “destroy New York City.” He wasn’t feeling like rapping this sad song.

Even the harpies of “The View,” drama queens that they are, thought hizzoner was going just a wee bit overboard on the hyperbole.
I mean, look – if you can stand to – at the skeptical expression on Behar’s face.

Ah, that Statue of Liberty again. That island, where people fresh off a boat came, and legally began the immigration process? Where they stood in line, had to pass medical exams, and have their paperwork examined and approved?
Oh, yeah. This is exactly the same…not.

These new illegal “migrants” in New York aren’t getting work permits, thanks to a massive backlog and steep fees, or simply bypassing the process altogether. These illegals get ahold of scooters or mopeds – without licenses or insurance, obviously – and start driving for delivery services like Uber, Lyft, deli sammiches or pizza joints.
…It’s not the first time trouble has erupted at one of the city’s migrant shelters over the vehicles, which many asylum seekers use to find work without permits.
“Because we’re immigrants, we don’t have many options,” one migrant told Fox 5 earlier this week. “One of the easiest options is to grab a motorcycle and apply on Uber.”
It’s a vicious…cycle. Obviously, the job is illegal, they’re illegal, and everything connected to the little vehicles they’re riding are illegal, but God forbid the NYPD comes to enforce what used to be known as “the law,” and all hell breaks loose.
In the meantime, the streets are full because the city administration is utterly incapable of dealing with any of it, having botched their response and coordination with the state government from the very first “We’re staying a sanctuary city” declaration to now.

Adams had plenty of people applauding (and snickering at) his “come to Hey-soos” moment. But the mayor also had his detractors and critics. People who, like “The View” hosts, were appalled at his callousness and “irresponsible rhetoric.” How could he?!
…In a post on X, state Sen. Jessica Ramos said, “This was irresponsible and is already emboldening xenophobic & anti immigrant rhetoric.”
And the Legal Aid Society and Coalition for the Homeless, which have been advocating for the migrants on multiple fronts, said the mayor’s comments were “reckless and unproductive fear-mongering.”
“This dangerous rhetoric is something you’d expect from fringe politicians on the far-right of the political spectrum, not from the mayor of a city that has always welcomed and celebrated its diverse and critically important immigrant community,” said Legal Aid spokesperson Redmond Haskins in an emailed statement.
…In April, he was roundly criticized for saying that the city was being “destroyed by the migrant crisis.”
Fellow Democrats called the language inflammatory and divisive. Up until Wednesday, he had largely refrained from using those words again, opting instead to champion the rights of migrants to work.
Last week, the mayor held a rally urging the federal government to expedite work authorizations for migrants, a plea that the White House has rejected because of legal and political hurdles.
He led a chant saying, “No hate! No fear! Immigrants are welcome here!”
Ah, the Mayor of Mixed Messages.
Which is what happened on “The View,” too. On that very same broadcast, that little toxic klatch of low IQ snarling felines went from chastising the mayor for his heartless, overly dramatic words and waxing poetic about Liberty, to…send all these foreign brown people somewhere else!
