I don’t get to wax poetic too often because I’m usually skewering something, someone, or knee-deep in minutiae. Last Thanksgiving, being a complete newbie, I don’t think I posted much of anything at all.
This year, though, I wanted to wish you guys the best and happiest Thanksgiving.
I’m know how pretty danged lucky I am to be here with this terrific group of utterly dissimilar personalities but almighty talents, and I am so grateful. Not just for the gig, but for their friendship – Ed, David, Karen, Jazz, John, Duane – they are a hoot. The absolute best.
As are y’all. The absolute best.
Man, I have made so many new friends and gotten such encouragement from you guys. It’s so important to know that what I do matters – what we do matters – and your constant interest and interaction fires me up to be better every time.
My heart is so full every time you all go to bat with me for our kids in uniform. Every time your unswerving loyalty to them and this great country comes shining through, and all I can think is there are still such good, good people out there.
And I am so grateful to now be able to personally know some of them. From so many walks of life, with their own stories to tell, but with our love of the things this country was founded on, and our fierce pride in her – in being American – in common.
I am grateful for those ties that bind through the red, white, and blue fabric of this nation.
May your day be blessed, safe, and happy, whether filled with raucous company and too much food, or if it’s quietly spent. If you have to work, or are volunteering, I pray you get there and back home safely. Put your feet up – you deserve it.
However you celebrate, God bless you all.
Happy Thanksgiving, my friends.
