Skittles “Black Trans Lives Matter” package labeling gets blasted bigly

“Taste the rainbow” has taken on a whole new meaning. Skittles has partnered with GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), altering some of its packaging to promote transgender ideology.

The partnership is not going over well on social media. The packaging includes the slogan “Black Trans Lives Matter” and the GLAAD logo. Partnering with GLAAD is not something new for Skittles, it has been done in years past. However, this marketing campaign goes a step further than the gay and lesbian community by embracing transgender ideology.

To state the obvious, Skittles is candy. Candy is marketed to children. GLAAD is supportive of child mutilation surgery. Parents don’t want transgender slogans printed on candy wrappers. This is not the first year that Skittles has partnered with GLAAD.

In 2020, the company ditched the rainbow and went gray for Pride Month. That was odd, given the rainbow was co-opted by the gay pride movement many years ago.

On its website, there is an explanation.

“Our mission is to support the LGBTQ+ community by amplifying and celebrating their stories. That’s why we’ve partnered with GLAAD for the fourth year to rewrite the script for LGBTQ+ acceptance,” Skittles states on its website.

You know what happens once social media users get agitated. Calls to “Bud Light” Skittles have begun.

The company issued a brief statement.

‘While Pride Month is a time to reflect, self-educate and celebrate, we know that long-term sustained support and allyship is key in building a more inclusive and diverse society,’ Skittles Senior Director Justin Hollyn-Taub said in a statement “at the time of last year’s Pride Pack announcement,” according to the Daily Mail.

Has Skittles learned nothing from the boycotts and cancellations this year? I’m a little surprised they keep going down this path. Skittles is owned by the Mars Company. Mars owns lots of companies, and is generally considered pretty conservative and very family-friendly.

The packages are supposed to be limited editions.

The new packages are predominantly black and white and include phrases like “Black Trans Lives Matter” and “Joy is Resistance,” Newsweek reported.

Skittles’ new pro-LGBTQ packaging and messaging were meant to promote inclusion and tolerance — but conservatives have soured on the popular candy and are going online calling for a Bud-Light-like boycott of the sweet treats.

GLAAD issued a statement about the partnership.

Melissa Harris, vice president of strategic partnerships for GLAAD defended the group’s collaboration with Skittles.

“The ongoing support and partnership we receive from Skittles helps us advance our critical mission to further dialogue that leads to cultural change,” she said in a statement.

“Skittles’ mission this year to spotlight LGBTQ+ stories is a profound initiative that can maximize awareness, support and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community while advancing diversity and inclusion.”

We’ll see if a boycott the size of a Bud Light boycott materializes. In the meantime, it is fascinating watching companies repeat the same mistake over and over again. At least half of the country has had enough. Unwanted propagandizing of the transgender agenda is not going to be tolerated. It is not normal and it has no place in the lives of children as though it is normal behavior. Stop dragging children into the political agendas of adults.
