Leading with Tony Bourdain to add gravitas to your headline – sour, unstable, evocative, provocative genius he might have been – doesn’t really bolster your case out of the gate. Lots of people despised Tony Bourdain for being a complete ideologue and self-absorbed jackass which is something not a single person has ever accused Guy Fieri of being.
Maybe that’s why Bourdain was so dismissive. Bourdain always admitted he had a hard time being an accessible, cheerful person – it wasn’t his nature, sadly – and eventually, that inner darkness would claim him way too early.
So why use your deceased icon to ping on a polar opposite, cool kids?
Particularly when this bouncing, uncool bundle of chef energy and bon homie has used his tremendous clout to unselfishly do so damn much good for people – another thing the late Bourdain was not especially noted for?
Fieri didn’t stop with that fundraiser, either.
Guy Fieri, who in the first weeks of the pandemic raised over $25 million with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) to assist restaurants financially, hosted Guy’s Restaurant Reboot last weekend and distributed around $300,000 in grants to restaurants and individuals.
The event, which was livestreamed on June 12, distributed previously raised funds to 11 restaurants and individuals who are in school to further their foodservice education. It featured a celebrity-packed lineup as well as musical performances.
“The hospitality industry is as resilient as any, but this past year has been a challenge like we’ve never seen,” Guy Fieri said in a release. “Guy’s Restaurant Reboot Presented by LendingTree is all about great people and companies coming together to inspire and encourage the future of our restaurants and the hard-working entrepreneurs behind them.”
He went into Chico, CA to celebrate the firefighters and residents who worked so tirelessly to quench flames, save neighboring towns, lost so much during a devasting wildfire that swept the area and yet kept their hearts in trim.
That’s just a few things. His cheesy (some episodes, literally) “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” gives huge boosts to mom and pop places all over the country. HOW AWFUL. How common.
I so wish these fools could disembody themselves for two seconds and realize what they are saying. How maliciously non-sensical it is. Perhaps feel ashamed at the hypocrisy and retract it.
But “self-absorbed” is a condition among the virtue-signaling crowd.
Someone who made everyone welcome regardless of their race, sex or sexual proclivities, and worked tireless for the benefit of others. But ZOMG – ONE picture having a chat with TRUMP and Katie bar the door.

…The former president conversed with numerous celebrities including Joe Rogan amongst others. However, his interaction with Guy Fieri sparked outrage online. Many had strong reactions to the presidential candidate conversing with the restaurateur who has also been dubbed as the Mayor of Flavor Town.

I guess the coup de grace is reminding fellow social justice warrior Fieri’s friends with Kid Rock. Ouch.
Jeez Lousie, don’t anyone tells Janice the Genius here about Bourdain’s rock star friends.
After filming that episode, Bourdain and Nugent remained besties to the day of his death.

FYI: Some on the right went after Nugent for that tweet because Bourdain had once joked he’d cook “poison hemlock” if Trump ever hired him for a catering job.
*sigh*
Experience tells me I can lay good money on most of the shriekers in the threads being self-styled fruitarians, who have never bought a Fieri burger or chicken sammich in their lives. But they’re going to boycott him out of business – okay.
Again with the liberal #mathz.
Fieri’s follows are ticking up impressively and not just Trump supporters. I realized I hadn’t, and we do catch Triple D when the 400 channels have zero on them. It’s like a default.
Lots of people simply appreciate and want to support a nice guy.
