Information from former hostages taken from their homes on October 7 by Hamas continues to trickle out. It has come to light that Hamas gives tranquilizers to hostages so that they will “look happy” when they are released.
This tracks with other stories that say Hamas threatens hostages to keep them waving and smiling as they are turned over to the Red Cross. Hamas propaganda includes trying to convince outsiders that the Israeli hostages are treated well by the barbarians who took them.
Calling them vitamins, hostages were given tranquilizers, according to Dr. Hagar Mizrahi, the head of the medical division of Israel’s Health Ministry. He reviews the cases of those hostages who are returned. The chairman of the health committee, Yoni Meshanki, calls for the publishing of a detailed report to expose the findings to other health organizations around the world.
The Israeli hostages are not being treated well.
Mizrahi told the Knesset’s health committee that hospitals involved in the intake of released hostages documented a slew of war crimes committed by Hamas regarding the health of abductees. “Some of the crimes are starvation, lack of medical treatment, and prolonged shackles,” an additional spokesperson added during the meeting.
However, relatives of abductees have called for the Health Ministry to share the details of their condition with other health ministers worldwide, citing a humanitarian health crisis.
The sister of one of the hostages asked why the families were being kept out of the information loop by the Red Cross. The families want the Ministry of Health to release a report on the health of the hostages. Yordan Gonen, the sister of Romi Gonen, said that in the second week of the war, the ministers of health in the European Union held a meeting. The families want to know if there was any representation of them in that meeting. They haven’t met with the Red Cross.
Her sister is still being held hostage.
Yordan continued, “My sister was supposed to be freed in the outline of the women and children, but she stayed there. Some of the released told us that they saw her alive there. Why specifically did Hamas choose not to release my sister? There are rumors about what is being done to them there and we can’t let that continue even a moment longer.”
We know why her sister and other women were not released, though the release of women and children was a part of the ceasefire agreement. The State Department spokesman let the cat out of the bag. Hamas didn’t release the women because the barbarians don’t want the condition of the women to tell the story of the atrocities they have endured. Those in captivity, if they are still alive, likely continue to be assaulted and abused every day. These abuses are war crimes.
State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters that Hamas nixed the ceasefire truce to avoid releasing any more women and girls.
“It seems one of the reasons they don’t want to turn women over that they’ve been holding hostage, and the reason this pause fell apart, is they don’t want those women to be able to talk about what happened to them during their time in custody,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said on Monday. “Certainly, there is very little that I would put beyond Hamas when it comes to its treatment of civilians and particularly its treatment of women.”
The horrifying press reports tell the tale of those atrocities. The gang rapes, the mutilation of the bodies of women still alive, women shot in the face, and bodies unable to be identified. The families are left with those thoughts every day as their nightmare continues.
There is still too much silence on the use of rape as a weapon of war by barbarians like Hamas. Women’s groups are silent. Those who lecture us on believing all women and using the #MeToo movement against conservatives in politics are showing that their rhetoric only applies to some women, not all. Not Israeli women. Some women are speaking out and shaming those who do not.

Former tech executive and women’s advocate Sheryl Sandberg issued a global call to action to end rape as a weapon of war during a summit on sexual violence at the United Nations Monday — and pleaded for the world not to turn away from the atrocities committed against women by Hamas in the October 7 terror attacks.
“Silence is complicity, and in the face of terror, we will not be quiet,” Sandberg said in a speech at “Hear our Voices: Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in the October 7 Hamas Terror Attack,” a UN event convened in New York City. “That is why we are all here today. To speak about unspeakable acts.”
The former Meta COO added: “This goes beyond politics. If we can’t agree that rape is wrong, then we have accepted the unacceptable. Then the question will be, not what is happening in the Middle East, but what is happening to our humanity.”
This is a time of moral clarity. Support of Israel includes speaking out on behalf of Israeli women about the atrocities they have endured and continue to endure. Hamas must be destroyed. Shame on those who believe the Hamas propaganda. Hamas are barbarians and cannot exist along the border of Israel or any other civilized country.
